Yellow Fever Immunization NYC

Yellow Fever Immunization - A Required Vaccine

Winters in New York City are not as harsh as the ones in Russia, but they can be very long, therefore making traveling to warmer countries during this season extremely appealing.  Whether you’re thinking of spending your vacation sipping drinks by a sunny beach in Colombia or exploring the mysteries and beauties of wildlife in a safari in Cameroon, travelers must take the necessary precautions as yellow fever risk is present in South America and Africa. Yellow fever is a very serious disease that has no cure, which is why it is very important for travelers to familiarize themselves with the disease and get the required immunization before going away.

What Do I Need to Know About Yellow Fever Vaccination?

Although there’s currently no cure for yellow fever, a vaccine exists to prevent such infection. Getting the vaccine is relatively hassle free and it is safe (FDA approved).  Unlike other travel shots, the yellow fever vaccine must be administered only at certified vaccination clinics. The Travel Clinic NYC is a CDC certified yellow fever clinic, therefore New York City travelers can rest assured that they are receiving their yellow fever immunization from an approved travel clinic.

Countries where yellow fever vaccination is required ask travelers to be able to show proof of immunization. Entrance to South American and African countries can be denied on the basis of inability to prove yellow fever vaccination from the traveler. After receiving the yellow fever vaccine, you should be given an International Certificate of Vaccination (commonly referred to as “the yellow card”) where the doctor must write vaccine received, date, sign, and stamp it. Your certificate becomes valid ten days after receiving the vaccine, which is why it is recommended that travelers get their yellow fever vaccine at least ten days prior to traveling.  It takes ten days for a person to develop immunity against yellow fever after vaccination and there are countries that are extremely strict with this requirement, therefore they will verify that the traveler has been immunized during the mandated period before allowing entrance. A single yellow fever immunization vaccine will last you ten years.

At the Travel Clinic of New York City, we understand that most travelers are unaware of the stringent requirements for the yellow fever immunization vaccine and when they do find out, they are racing against the clock to get the needed vaccination. It is for this very reason that our travel clinic offers the vaccine with an accommodating schedule (same-say and next-day appointments), offer extended services (evening and weekend hours), and even accept walk-ins for those that are very close to their departure date.
The Travel Clinic NYC offers not only flexible operating hours, but also its location in Midtown Manhattan makes it very convenient to all New York City residents and workers in surrounding neighborhoods (Tribeca, Lower East Side, Greenwich, Soho, Chinatown, etc.) and out-of-town travelers to get their Yellow Fever Immunization along with the International Certificate of Vaccination for proof of immunization (only given by certified vaccination clinics) in just one visit.

Our Travel Clinic of Manhattan is aware of the accruing expenses our travel patients face when planning a vacation, therefore we make every effort to keep our yellow fever vaccine and immunization fees as affordable as possible. Our goal is to get you started on a healthy and happy trip and our reasonably priced yellow fever vaccine reflects our travel clinic’s objective.
